Last year this Caribbean festival attracted 1.2M visitors, of which 170,000 hail from the US and 130,000 trek from overseas. This is by far the largest, most profitable of all Carnival festivals in North America.
As the start of Caribana draws near on July 15th, everyone will eagerly await the many events that this 3-week celebration has to offer, including a new food festival offering up loads of tasty caribbean treats and a black tie gala that will aid earthquake relief in Haiti.
What started off in 1967 as a small festival celebrating Caribbean culture has evolved into the city's main tourist attraction. Hats off to Caribana, we can't wait for this year's revelry to begin!
