Toronto Carnival, Caribana - "The Birdie is Released"

On Saturday May 1st 3 time Band of the Year winner Carnival Nationz launched their 2010 Carnival presentation. Their theme pays tribute to the King of Calypso, "Sparrow D' Legend". The venue, Sound Academy 2, was filled to capacity as carnival enthusiasts eagerly awaited the viewing of this year's costumes.
12 sections paying homage to Sparrow's timeless classics were paraded.

St. Lucia Carnival - "Call to be Queen"

To the beautiful ladies of St. Lucia, the Cultural Development Foundation is inviting you to apply for this year’s National Carnival Queen Show. It’s a great chance to become Saint Lucia’s 2010 Carnival Queen.
Application forms are to be submitted to the Cultural Development Foundation with an 8 x 10 color photo no later than May 10th 2010.
Applications are open to young ladies meeting the following criteria:
Must be a citizen of St. Lucia
Must not be married and have never been married
Must not be pregnant and have never have borne a child
Must possess a minimum of 4 CXC passes including English & Mathematics
Must be talented
